Avowed gets Steam Deck Verified as new update reworks Fighter and Ranger classes

Avowed

Obsidian Entertainment has a new update ready for Avowed players. Patch 1.5 for the grand fantasy RPG from earlier this year carries major reworks for a couple of class trees, fresh unique weapons, new graphics options, improved cooking and crafting, and so much more.

As an added bonus, the title has finally gained the Steam Deck Verification badge. This means that Valve has classified the game as a great out-of-the-box experience on its Steam Deck handheld gaming PC with no compatibility issues and good performance.

Coming back to the update, the biggest changes here are aimed at the Ranger and Fighter class trees. Obsidian says that the new abilities and passives it has added to the duo will make them "
round out the classes compared to the Wizard tree." All of the Envoy's abilities have been refunded as a part of these changes too, letting players make new builds with no cost attached to them.

For the ranger, now players can teleport behind enemies for powerful attacks, throw poison daggers at groups of enemies, use a smoke bomb for interrupting enemies, and set frost traps for aggressive foes.

As for Fighter abilities, a powerful Driving Kick is here for breaking through enemy blocks and sending enemies flying through the air, a Barbaric Smash attack with high damage that gains bonuses when it finishes off a foe, a stamina-restoring Deep Breath effect, and a Reviving Exhortation power to revive allies from afar.

Both class trees have received three passives each as well, with upgrades to dual wielding, poison attacks, damage negation, and more.

Moreover, Obsidian says that it is increasing the build variety players have access to in the early game, and that means new unique gear is being scattered throughout Dawnshore, Emerald Stair, Shatterscarp, and Galawain’s Tusks.

Enemy combat abilities are being refreshed too, with them now being able to use abilities that only the player had access to before. This includes Returning Storm, Ring of Fire, Taunt, Clear Out, Blizzard, and Tanglefoot to wreak havoc during fights.

Other changes in this massive update include a 40FPS cap setting, a separate option for temporal anti-aliasing, a larger map reveal area when exploring, revamped UI for map markers, fresh accessibility options, Japanese and Korean languages, and plenty of bug fixes. Avowed has even more updates planned for it too. Obsidian's roadmap has the game receiving New Game Plus, a Photo Mode, a completely new weapon type, an appearance-changing option during the story, and more.
